I find it pleasantly ironic that this poster, an ad award show call-for-entries entitled, "How to Win Awards Without Doing Good Work", actually won my first award — a One Show pencil.
"Buck Knife" has become synonymous with all folding knives, no matter who built them. In fact, there's one sitting in the center console of my Jeep this very moment. So when asked if I'd write for them, of course I said, "Hell yea!"
I'm not old, but this will sound like it. I miss print. I miss spreads. I miss the time it took to kern your own copy in the hunt for the perfect rag. I miss what magazines used to mean — a lazy flop on the sofa with the reader's undivided attention. Mostly, I miss the fact that writing long copy forced you to come to terms with your talent, or lack thereof.
